About

Good Sauna is a home grown local startup; stoked by a desire to foster community, a passion for creating spaces of wellness and a simple love for people.

Founder / Director Luke Axisa considers himself 'blessed to have captured the vision' when re-building for family after the 19/20 fires. As a practicing carpenter and lover of the craft, he was called upon to take up the task of what was a 6+ month stint of largely solo work in the fire ravaged paradise North West of what Luke now calls home. He found himself commissioned to create an impromptu low cost bush sauna as high priority - Constructed as a space for healing and rejuvenation amidst the chaos of starting again post bushfires. The little sauna built from rough sawn hardwood, reclaimed Douglas Fir and some Aussie Red Cedar he'd been lugging around the east coast for years formed the container for this now present concept to land in.

Over the past 5 years this burning little vision had remained a small yet alight ember in Luke's mind. Over many late evenings he'd set to task drafting, imagining and reimagining a public mobile sauna that would not only be practical & durable but also honour the natural beauty of our rugged landscape. And provide a haven of stillness and rest. Entirely handcrafted start to finish and built largely on Australian native timbers, Good Sauna is a work of passion, struggle and creative freedom. It's a place for renewal.

'My father used to say to me; "a good fire is much like a good relationship - it takes two willing logs to burn well..." Although Good Sauna has begun as just one fella landing an idea and materialising it, this little fire from then till now certainly has many other proverbial logs to thank. I trust you all feel the warmth of my gratitude."
